Allison Chinchar works as a forecaster of weather for CNN and HLN. She's a frequent guest in CNN's New Day Weekend and HLN's Weekend Express, as well CNN International. Prior to making the move to CNN, in June of 2015, she was employed by numerous local radio stations including those in Atlanta and Nashville. She's reported on every aspect of hurricanes, blizzards as well as flooding and wildfires. She received the Emmy nomination in recognition of her coverage of Hurricane Dorian that hit the Bahamas in 2019. Her coverage of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011 when over 350 tornadoes were reported in the Southeastern United States over a duration of 4 days, with 200 tornadoes that occurred on the 27th of April was nominated as well for an Emmy. Her experience as an environmental researcher has enabled her to write stories concerning climate change, as well as natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and more. Chinchar is a graduate of the Bachelors of Science in Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. She is a member of numerous organizations, such as those of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
